Over 100 loyal supporters joined Mayor Anthony Campuzano and Historic Lansdowne Theater Corporation board members to unveil the restored historic ticket booth in the theater’s outdoor lobby on October 3rd.
The ticket booth was restored using the very familiar marble veneer and stainless steel. Stainless steel cresting was added to the top of the booth that takes its design from the pediments on the historic poster cases. The most noticeable change to the lobby is the installation of new lit poster cases on the front of the theater. The stucco walls were redone and poster cases restored to their original color. The pendent lights were rewired, stripped and repainted to the original colors. The rounded glass was also reproduced and installed. We are grateful to the project contractor Materials Conservation and project architect for their excellent work.
The theater wants to thank Delaware County Council for its steadfast and generous support of this project. Council allocated $153,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to the restoration of the lobby. Council previously supported the restoration of the marquee.
