Lansdowne Theater receives major grant from Commonwealth of PA

Updated: Jun 21, 2021

The Historic Lansdowne Theater Corporation (HLTC) received word earlier this week that the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has awarded a $200,000 grant to the Borough of Lansdowne in support of the Lansdowne Theater. (The HLTC did not qualify for this funding, but the borough did. The HLTC is very grateful to borough council for submitting the grant application on behalf of the theater.)

The grant will be used to remediate the asbestos wrap from the ductwork in the attic and in the furnace in the sub-basement. (Please note: The public has NOT been exposed to asbestos materials during events or touring the building.) We anticipate that the asbestos remediation, that must be done before any construction, will begin this fall and completed by early winter.
