What a few weeks at The Lansdowne!
It was wonderful to see close to 400 visitors to the theater during the November 6th Tour and Pour. Thanks to all who attended and we hope that you enjoyed the event and better understand how far the project has come and, yes, how far we still have to go. Please help spread the word about the project and urge others to support the restoration.
The movie shoot in front on the theater on November 4th with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper was very exciting. The theater with its “fake” marquee was lit up for the first time since 1987 when the the building closed. As a courtesy to the film production company, we will not release photos til the film, “Silver Linings Playbook” is in theaters. However, above is a photo of the marquee during the “Tour and Pour.”
The restoration of the marquee was held up for about a month so the film could be shot. With the funding secured, a contractor has been selected and will begin the restoration shortly. Expect the marquee to be relit, depending on the weather, in about 4 months.
Note to photographers, ghost hunters, etc..
The Lansdowne Theater has been deluged with requests for photography sessions and ghost hunter groups who want to explore the theater. We are glad to accommodate your requests. The charge to use the theater for these purposes is $100 per hour with a 2 hour minimum. Please email or call the office for further details. The fee helps to offset utility and staff costs for these events. We are grateful for everyone's enthusiasm for this unique building.
